How to Transfer Apps From a MacBook to an iPad

The portability of an iPad makes it an ideal business tool when you need to work on the go. A great portion of the functionality of the iPad comes from the applications you install on it. While you can download apps from the App Store directly onto the iPad using a Wi-Fi connection, you may prefer to browse and download apps onto your MacBook laptop instead. Once you have found the apps you want and downloaded them from the App store, connect your iPad to the MacBook and use the "Sync" function in iTunes to transfer the apps onto your iPad.

  1. 1.

Open the iTunes program on your MacBook.

  2. 2.

Connect your iPad to your MacBook using the USB cable that came with the device. Wait for iTunes to recognize it and display its icon and name in the left sidebar.

  3. 3.

Click on the name of the iPad in the left sidebar of iTunes in the Devices section to access its settings.

  4. 4.

Click on the "Apps" option at the top of the main iTunes window.

  5. 5.

Click in the "Sync Apps" check box in the top left corner of the screen to select it. Scroll through the list underneath and select the check box beside each of the apps you want to sync to your iPad.

  6. 6.

Click the "Apply" button at the bottom right corner of the iTunes window to sync the apps from your MacBook to your iPad.
