How Do I Know If I Have Been Blocked on Wi-Fi?

Wi-Fi networks provide system administrators with numerous customization options, but this can also include user restriction functionality. If a user is disruptive or significantly reduces a network's performance, the system administrator can remove that user from the network. If you believe that you've been blocked from a wireless network, you can confirm this by checking a few things in your network status page.

    Double-check to ensure that your network password was typed properly, if your network has one. Access this through Control Panel. Click "Network and Sharing Center." Your available wireless networks will be displayed and you can input a password by clicking on the network's entry.

    Open up your Network Settings and check your network status. Click "Network and Sharing Center" and double-click your network's name while connected to the network. If your network hardware is working properly while connected to a network, you should see information such as an IP address and sub-net mask.

    Click the network's entry in Network and Sharing Center to attempt a connection.

    Wait several seconds for the connection process to finish and open your Internet browser. If your computer was not blocked by the system administrator, you should be able to access your browser's home page. If not, your computer has likely been blocked from accessing the Internet.
