How to Add a Canon Scanner to a Home Network

If you use multiple computers, you may have connected all of them to a home network to get quick access to any one of them. A Canon scanner can be connected to a single computer, so you can't use if from a different computer by default. But if you add the Canon scanner to your home network, you make it available for all other computers, so you can use the scanner from any one of them. To complete this task, you just need to share the scanner on the home network.

    Navigate to the "Start" menu from the computer that the Canon scanner is connected.

    Click "Devices and Printers" from the "Start" menu's right pane to open a list where you can view all devices and printers connected to your computer, including the Canon scanner.

    Right-click the Canon scanner in the list an select "Scanner Properties" from the popup menu. The Properties window appears.

    Click the "Sharing" tab.

    Check the box next to the "Share this scanner" option.

    Type a name for your Canon scanner in the "Share Name" text field. The name should be easily identifiable, especially if you use multiple shared devices on your network.

    Click "Apply" to apply the new settings and "OK" to close the Properties window. Your Canon scanner is now shared to the home network and can be accessed by all devices connected to the network.
